If you would like to give back to your community and help those in need, consider joining our Red Cross family today. There are many ways a volunteer can provide aid so if you don’t see yourself as a medical first responder, don’t fret! We have members who give their time to spread the word of the Red Cross and help increase the size of our organisation. We have members who love to drive and so prefer to give their time transporting low-risk patients between care facilities or to appointments. When the likes of a global pandemic hits or our country needs to welcome in refugees, we are glad to have our community support team ready to go!

So if you would like to give back, start by reaching out and we’ll find a way for you to help.

Our responders climb the clinical ladder by learning new skills from First Aid Responder to Cardiac First Responder and Emergency First Responder, and finally Emergency Medical Technician.

We train members to later instruct others through a series of instructor courses. If you see yourself as a teacher or have a degree in education, we may just have a role for you!

We have several  first aid courses ongoing between September and May covering Adult and Youth groups.

Our Mission

The mission of the Irish Red Cross is to identify and deliver humanitarian assistance, both at home and abroad, to those who are most in need. To achieve this, we in Limerick train our volunteers in first aid and other care giving services, and provide said services to the community at public events – Thomond Park Rugby, Taekwondo in UL, and Equestrian events in Limerick Race Course to name a few. Funding generated from such events benefits our area on a local level, our organisation on a national level, and the International Red Cross & Red Crescent movement word wide.

Our Vision

Locally, the Limerick Area Red Cross provides a First Aid training services to the public, benefiting our communities with additional trained responders. Funding obtained from our First Aid cover at events allows us to keep our fleet on the road, providing patient transport services at no cost.

Our local efforts can have international impact with funding available to provide support and relief where it is needed most.
