The Irish Red Cross provides Cardiac First Responder training courses, which is accredited by the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council for industry and the public. This course combines the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (A.E.D) with Basic Life Support Skills (C.P.R.)

- Administration of aspirin
- Cardiac arrest
- The chain of survival
- CPR
- The recovery position
- Use of an AED
- Stroke
This course is run over 4 hours. Upon successful completion of the course students are awarded the joint PHECC and IRC certificate which is valid for 2 years.
