What We Do
The Limerick Area of the Irish Red Cross was founded in 1940 with just a small number of members. Now we have more than 200 members actively volunteering for the Irish Red Cross in Limerick City and County. The organisation offers a range of services including first aid and ambulance cover at events, first aid training, health and social care support and a Red Cross Youth section.
Our Mission
The mission of the Irish Red Cross is to identify and deliver humanitarian assistance, both at home and abroad, to those who are most in need. To achieve this, we in Limerick train our volunteers in first aid and other care giving services, and provide said services to the community at public events – Thomond Park Rugby, Taekwondo in UL, and Equestrian events in Limerick Race Course to name a few. Funding generated from such events benefits our area on a local level, our organisation on a national level, and the International Red Cross & Red Crescent movement word wide.
